Welcome to 4th grade room 203!! I hope you and your family had a fun and relaxing summer vacation!! I have the pleasure of starting my first year here at Vanderpoel Humanities Academy but I have been in education for many years. I earned my Bachelor’s at University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and earned my Master’s degree at Chicago State University. When I am not teaching, I like to travel, spend time with family and friends and work within the community with my sisters.
It is my goal to provide you with instruction that challenges critical thinking skills, fosters intelligent discussion, and develops logical writing skills for every student, college bound or not. I am committed to providing you a growth mindset and techniques that you will need to be successful in the fourth grade. My goal is for our classroom to be a community of learners based on mutual respect for all individual differences. I want you to know that our (not my) classroom is a safe environment where students are encouraged to share, learn from one another, and learn from me—just as I will learn from you. I’m excited about the opportunity to get to know you, and I’m looking forward to successful experiences and a productive school year.
