Dear Family Members and Students,
I would like to welcome you to my science classroom! I am very excited to begin exploring science ideas and covering interesting content with your students! My name is Nour Jabri and this is my first year as a science teacher. I have my bachelors in Health Science and graduated with a masters from the Urban Education Teaching Program at the University of Chicago. I am thrilled to be able to take some of my big ideas and help students find their passion in the STEM field!
I have always marveled at how the scientific field is filled with unanswered questions. My goal for this year is to incorporate new technologies and introduce students to the latest tech and research that big corporations are working on. I want students to become familiar with how big companies such as Microsoft, Google, Facebook, and Tesla, are pioneering in cutting edge technology. I also want students to be strong STEM leaders with an understanding of how social justice issues are essential to being socially conscious scientist and engineers. We will look at science as a set of tools and skills that scientist can use to uplift their communities and the worlds.
I want to challenge students to push themselves intellectually and creatively. To begin to ask the big questions and find a purpose for their future. A crucial component is for students to have a growth mindset. We are all positioned as learners in my classroom and everyone has something to offer. I hope that students can begin to explore their scientist identities in a safe space. Through hard work and determination, I know that students will be able to find many AHA moments in my classroom as they take chances make mistakes and get messy!
I am looking forward for a fantastic year filled with hands on science experiment and learning something new!
